I eat at McDonald’s every now and then here in Japan. I was really impressed with the quality of service and how the food looks when you eat you it. I was also shocked by the smallest soft drinks in the world. It’s probably an 8oz cup filled to the top with ice. What does that mean? Probably 4-5oz of Coke. Here are some other things I feel about the McDs in Japan vs. America and a commercial I found on Youtube… Yes, the restaurant looks like this. Yes, McDonald’s cheeseburgers look like this (to me). Yes, you are happier when you eat McDonald’s in Japan vs the U.S. and yes, you are hungry 2 hours later just like in the U.S.
Speaking of McDonald’s, their profit grew five-fold according to The Japan Times
McDonald’s Holdings Co. (Japan) Ltd. said Thursday its consolidated net profit in 2007 was five times higher than in the previous year, totaling Â¥7.82 billion on record high sales of Â¥395.06 billion, up 11.1 percent.
I find that pretty interesting.

How come non of those people in the commercial are fat? Better yet,if their beefin it up over their on Mickey D’s, than why are they all still skinny? Go figure…
I seen a show that was talking about drive thru in, I believe China, and how people just did not understand how they worked. When drive thrus were introduced people would get their food at the drive through, then park, then do inside and eat their food. They just couldn’t understand that you take your food and go.
Are their drive thrus in Japsn very much?
because they have different ways of sliming down? haha~
@Kali: Maybe it’s because people walk a lot more, I’m not sure. I lost about 10 pounds when I first moved here because I walk everywhere!
@Ed: In the city I live in right now I haven’t seen a drive thru, but they were in the smaller cities I’ve been in. And they were all pretty small with a small parking lot. Most of the cars here are small so it seemed to work pretty well. When we went through the drive through the person sounded very polite too which was quite a different experience.
Japanese McDonald’s are much better then American McDonalds. I love any commercial that has Yoshida brothers music playing in the background!
Travis – I agree with you on every aspect.
Travis is right. Japanese McDonalds are even held to a much higher standard. They are clean as heck, the workers get paid better and everything is immaculate including the cute girls in uniform behind the counter
I miss Japan. Mmmmuah Nihon!
Yeah, clean and more professional then the U.S.
I like they are introducing new America burgers
