I've always wanted to try some. I've seen some in the Japanese market out here (I live in Los Angeles). I'm not really a coffee drinker but I think I would try it at least once.

I like Mr. Brown canned coffee (hot or cold) that they sell in all the 7-Elevens in Taiwan, with the wacky Colombian druglord logo:

Yeah you're probably right. And Georgia coffee is still around, it's my canned coffee of choice because the large cans are the same price as the smaller ones. Nice!

I think gloves are over-rated. I say stick with coffee, they are warm and a new one is on every corner. Do they still have Georgia Coffee in Japan?

gabvoie - There's such a large variety that anybody can find a flavor that fits them. I once tried one called Black Black or Black Silk (I think) and it tasted like black coffee with the consistency of some ooze made from corn starch. I almost puked because it was so gross. Other than that, all the other ones are tasty.

jyankee - Commercials must be great for people like Cameron Diaz and Tommy Lee Jones that have repeat contracts.

laurie - LOL! Yeah I've heard actors get paid a lot.

David - YES! I'm glad I'm not alone. Last winter I utilized them the same way. When I had to go somewhere in town when it was cold I would get 1-2 coffees to keep my hands from freezing. This winter I'll buy some gloves I think.

Emily - I think a lot of them taste similar to the Starbucks Frappuccino you can find in the grocery store (4 for $5 or whatever).

Kind of feels like the canned coffee from Starucks we have here in the states, not sure which one taste better but sure is interesting seeing the promotion of people drinking coffee.

When I lived in Sasebo and served in the Navy I sometimes had to stand watch at night, outside on the USS Beaufort, shameless plug, and while Sasebo is not the coldest place on earth it does get chilly in the winter.

My Pea Coat had two large pockets for your hands and on the pier was a coffee vending machine. So for 100 YEN you could get a hot Georgia Coffee, I would get three at first and save my last 100YEN for the last hour of the watch.

Usually it was a 4 hour watch so that was a coffee and hour, I put one out to drink the other two went in your pockets. So you could have some great coffee with loads of sugar and caffeine, and keep your hands warm in your pockets. Those cans the coffee come in are not thin aluminum, they were more like tin or something.

By the tome you got to the final hour you could most of the time get the last one if you needed to stay up or skip it and go back to bed.

See? The Japanese are onto something. Watching Brad Pitt toss a large copier down the stairs makes me want to drink the very beverage he is drinking! I hope they paid Brad a lot of money for this!

I too was surprised at the amount of canned coffee being offered when I was in Japan... For a non-coffee drinker like me, the ones I tasted were pretty good...lol
