It feels like half the grocery store is dedicated to fish. And the price is always right in Japan!

Egg stuffed fish... I stay away from this. I don't like the exploding eggs when you chew it.

Tiny fish, great for a yakitori style dinner. Slap it on a stick, grill it, eat it just like that.

Now let’s work on getting some Chicago style pizza cookin’ in the bakery Mr. Grocery Store! If they had a suggestion box I’d be dropping notes every day. Non-seafood-non-mayo pizza, big steak, some Diet Dr. Pepper please and thank you.

Looks like a bargain.. and yeah… I wouldn’t want to eat the fish and have all the fish eggs burst in my mouth….ick…

JYankee – I find it pretty amazing that these usually all get sold out. By the end of the day the 1st picture area is empty.

When we go grocery shopping at the end of the week the usual bill for fish is around 5000 yen. Usually buy salmon fillets exclusively. I find it curious how fish is not cleared of its insides before being sold to the general public; except for salmon and flounder.

Heh, I am not big on cooking, but I love to eat fish. The supermarket I go to also has fish really cheap.

If I had a grill, I would probably pick up these fish and grill them, but because I don’t know how to cook anything other than eggs, I can’t buy these delicious-looking fish. :(

  5. Steve says:

Yoshihiro – Really? You’re buying insides and all? Whoa! I haven’t bought fish in Japan yet so that sounds so strange. Sounds gross.

Alex – Sounds to me like you need to save up for a grill!

i know exactly what you mean. :D i’m from the chicago land area, but i moved to Italy almost 2 years ago. i could so go for a REAL STEAK!!! lol but they don’t have that out here. well they do if you want to pay 20€ haha. it’s funny that when you move you like this type of food but then after living in the place where they eat it 365 days a year you want a change… :) at lest there you have a lot of different things to take. :D hear i’ve eaten pasta, rice, or some soup for lunch for almost 2 years… i need something different!!! :D haha i wish i could go to japan. ^^

@Selena: It is funny how food tastes change. Lately I’ve been craving cereal like Golden Grahams. I recently got some Oreo O’s when I was in Korea. It was great. I was happy for a week, then they were gone, lol!
