Dr. Pepper is AWESOME!

For people living in Japan that miss the taste of Dr. Pepper, Pringles, M&Ms, Gummi Bears, and other snacks, you can find some in Japan! I might sound a little too excited, but it’s not every day I get to enjoy some American style junk food that doesn’t taste like fish, rice, or soy sauce.

This was a surprise gift from my wife this evening. The story she doesn’t know is I spent a over half of my day on the phone today with people in the U.S. and one of them was snacking on some jelly bean during our conversation. I go “My god man, are you eating M&Ms?” and he’s like “Nah, they’re Jelly Beans a al Costco” It made me a little jealous… but not anymore! I didn’t tell anybody about the conversation so it kicked ass when I opened my eyes to these.

My DR Pepper is in the fridge, M&Ms are in the freezer, “Goldbaren” are on standby, and half of the salt & vinegar chips are “in mah belly”, ah yes, good times.

  1. This looks something like my trash food day when I go watch a movie with friends. CocaCola, NicNacs and Chio young onion chips!

At your place I’d go for M&Ms and Pringles. They don’t even sell Dr. Pepper here and Haribo goldbaren are made out of bone marrow stuff i think, like all jello. :)

  2. Hey man…nice blog you got here.
I live up in Yamaguchi, though I come down to Fukuoka every once in a while for work. Isn’t there a Costco down there? They’ve gotta have Doc and stuff there.

Though it’s much nicer when the wife sets you up than when buying it for yourself, I reckon.

  3. domce – Haha, bone marrow stuff? I’ve never had NicNacs or Chio young onion chips before.

JimR – Yeah there’s a Costco but I don’t remember seeing Dr. Pepper. They do have a ton of American foods and products though, including Oatmeal

David – Niiiiiiiice! I woke up around 4am today to get some work done too. Good morning.

  4. Good to know. So far so good. It’s 9:35 AM here and I am doing good.

When I lived there in Japan and called home, my Mom or Sister would ask how that day was since I usually called early AM hours. It was an ongoing joke/topic. Some days I told them not to get out of bed.

Thanks for the heads up. I am been on prescription steroids this week so every day has been turned up a notch this week….Weeeeeee!

  5. That’s funny, I do the same thing with my brother every once in a while. And turning things up a notch sounds intense, but I’m assuming something is not quite going your way, so I wish you luck with whatever is going on.

  6. How do you think I feel? I went to the US for 6 months and I tasted virtually every single junk food there is. When I came back to Brazil, I couldn’t find any of those things! Everything tastes like crap now!
